Designed in the form of a traditional Indian marketplace, Delhi’s International Mango Festival is seriously a fitting tribute to one of the most delicious fruits in the world. Hosted by the Delhi Tourism Board, it attracts visitors from around the world.
In addition to mangos, you can purchase Indian arts, crafts and great cuisine. The festival has many events, including mango juggling, mango eating competitions, children’s shows, quizzes, mango slogan writing, mango carving, children’s shows, mango folk performances and of course, mango tasting. Also, famous 5-start Indian chefs are on hand to demonstrate various scrumptious mango recipes.
It is said that there are over 1,000 varieties of mangoes on display at this festival and even some rare species of the fruit all from different states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab Haryana. Some of the traditional mangos on hand are: Langda, Dasheri, Alphonso, Fasli, Bombay Green, Chausa, Sindheri, and many more. And the best part is you’re likely to enjoy free samples of each!
Not to be forgotten amongst the fresh fruits, are the wide selection of processed mango items like jam, chutney, mango pulp, mango juice, jelly, aam papad, aam panna and more. You can even purchase mango plants. This festival attracts locals, tourists, traders and buyers from all over the world who come to enjoy what’s regarded as the “King of fruits!”
