Melbourne Food & Wine Festival – Australia
Beginning in 1993 with just 12 events, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival has now grown to international fame and now hosting over 200. Food and wine lovers now flock to Victoria in the thousands each year to indulge in the various events that fill Melbourne’s large network of restaurants, laneways, rooftops and other unique dining or sipping areas.
Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the festival aims to promote the produce, talent and lifestyle of Melbourne and Victoria in addition to promoting Melbourne as the “food and wine capital of Australia.” 😉
Some notable awards that the festival has achieved include:
The 2010 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards “Major Festivals and Events” (Hall of Fame)
Melbourne Airport 2008 and 2009 Victorian Tourism Awards in the category of ‘Major Festivals and Events’
2008 Melbourne Awards in the category of ‘Community Division – Contribution to Profile’
2008 International Festival and Events Awards Gold for ‘Best Festival Program’
